Abstract

Pain prevention and treatment is a major indication for traditional Chinese medicine. A lot of recent controlled trials were conducted with acupuncture for the treatment of postoperative pain and knee osteoarthritis. In these trials, acupuncture, when used as complementary of usual management is efficacious, but usually not statistically different to sham-acupuncture. The other procedures of Chinese medicine are less evaluated. Regular qi-gong sessions seem to procure substantial benefits to patients with fibromyalgia and chronic neck pain. © 2015, Springer-Verlag France.
