Subject: Lecture by Coleman Nye on Thursday 10 March at Alumni Centre, University Blvd. and East Mall

Subject: Lecture by Coleman Nye on Thursday

last event of the year is a lecture by Prof. Coleman Nye of the Dept. of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies at Simon Fraser University.
Titled "Comics, Anthropology, and Digital Pedagogy," the talk focuses on Lissa: Still Time, a collaborative work of graphic medical anthropology that Prof. Nye has undertaken with Sherine Hamdy (Brown University) in which they use comics to convey ethnographic insights about bioethics and global health in two vastly different settings: that of the contemporary Arab world, and that of the United States. The project has three components: a print publication; an interactive digital edition, and a documentary film. The talk will provide an overview of the project, and will reflect on how the graphic and digital components open up critical spaces for interdisciplinary collaboration, academic communication, and multimedia engagement for innovating research and effecting social change.

Please do join us at 4pm in the Polygon Classroom on the 2nd floor of the Alumni Centre, University Blvd. and East Mall on Thursday 10 March.
