Borders in the 21st Century: Growing White Nationalism Amidst Rising Economic Inequality" happening on March 23rd (Thursday) from 5 to 7 pm at UBC (Henry Angus 9/F).

Hi there!

I am Albina, a UBC student organizing interdisciplinary roundtables on the "Face of Modern Capitalism" this year at UBC with the support of Dr. David Silver (please see Ubyssey for media coverage). Our fourth and final roundtable for this year will be on "Borders in the 21st Century: Growing White Nationalism Amidst Rising Economic Inequality" happening on March 23rd (Thursday) from 5 to 7 pm at UBC (Henry Angus 9/F). We would love to invite RAGA members to join us in this important and timely discussion.

The panel will be organized around four main themes: (1) Economic Globalization, Neoliberalism and Free Trade, (2) Border Imperialism, Islamophobia and Settler Colonialism, (3) Whiteness and the Rise of White Nationalism in the West, and (4) Resistance and Seeking Change. Each theme will have a series of guiding questions associated with it.

Confirmed panelists include:
(1) Litsa Chatzivasileiou (UBC GRSJ)
(2) Daniel Tseghay (Community Organizer)
(3) Jamie Peck (UBC Geography)
(4) Geoffrey Mann (SFU Geography)
(5) Vanessa Andreotti (UBC Education)
(6) Leonora C. Angeles (UBC GRSJ)

The event is geared towards UBC students and faculty, while also being open to the general public (booked room has space for about ~100 guests). Please let me know if you could share information about the upcoming panel with your members.

I am attaching a document with more information about the panel below, as well as the event's poster.
