Are you in interested in sharing spaces, stories, and connections with other racialized folks? (i.e., Indigenous, Black, people of colour and people of multiple race ancestries)? Join us on Saturday, May 13th 2017 from 12pm to 2pm at the Vancouver Status of Women (2652 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC V5K 1Z6 - Coast Salish Territories). We will be providing snacks and refreshments!
We strive to create anti-oppressive, safe, and accessible community spaces, where we can challenge each other regarding our understandings of systems of oppression - which includes but is not limited to - racism, transphobia, classism, disablism, homophobia, and sexism. We are committed to holding each other accountable to create safe spaces for each other, understand the complexities of racialization, and honour peoples’ diverse lived realities & liberation struggles. In this effort, we will develop community guidelines together at the Open House.
This gathering, and all our work, takes place on Coast Salish Territories, specifically on unceded, occupied, and ancestral homelands of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and Stó:lō peoples.
