It will now be supported by the Faculty of Management. There will be specific tasks expected of a postdoc (supporting grant applications, project management), but we are really looking for someone with expertise in the history of technology who will be comfortable moving between scholars from widely different disciplinary backgrounds (engineering, nursing, literary studies, economics). Thanks, Greg -- Dr Greg Garrard Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies (pro tem) Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies UBC Okanagan POSTING EXPIRY 15 October 2017 - 12:00am This position offers a postdoctoral researcher the opportunity to play a key role in the design and implementation of a feasibility study on the topic of the development of electric aircraft and its deployment in the rural and remote communities within the interior of British Columbia. The feasibility study will include market intelligence, innovative cluster development, and community needs assessment. The successful applicant will work on scholarly and logistical components of the project, including preparation of background materials, identification of key stakeholders, development of interview and survey questions, and analysis and write-­‐up of collected data. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to lead peer-­‐reviewed papers and co-­‐author additional papers with other investigators on the project. Applicants should have (or shortly expect to complete) a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., management, economics, community development, public policy, sociology, political science, public health, urban studies, planning, etc) or equivalent research experience. Applicants should have experience in using qualitative and/or participatory methods, and should be comfortable using descriptive quantitative methods or demonstrate a willingness to learn. The post-­‐doc will be situated in the Regional Socio-­Economic Development Institute of Canada, at the Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia. The position is funded internally by UBC Okanagan. The position is available initially for one year, starting in late 2017 or early 2018, and renewable for a second year contingent on available funding. Starting salary for the position will be $45,000 plus benefits.
