'Wikipedia goes Caribbean'

May 3, 2018 Leiden University Library | White Singel 27 | Vossius Hall The largest Dutch Caribbean book collection is housed in the library of Leiden University. The KITLV, the oldest Dutch-Caribbean institute, invites you to get to know this collection and to start working on it yourself. The Netherlands and the Caribbean have been connected for centuries. In Traveling Caribbean Heritage, research is being conducted into how the common heritage in contemporary societies is shaped, and built to strengthen the professional field in the Netherlands, Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. The meeting on 3 May is part of a series that aims to link the knowledge of people from the Caribbean and Suriname to the collections of museums, archives and libraries. The series, Wikipedia goes Caribbean, is organized in collaboration with the UNESCO Memory of the World Committee, Wikimedia Netherlands, the Rijksmuseum, the National Archive and the National Museum for World Cultures. 'Wikipedia goes Caribbean' 3 mei 2018 Universiteitsbibliotheek Leiden | Witte Singel 27 | Vossiuszaal De grootste Nederlands-Caribische boekencollectie is gehuisvest in de bibliotheek van de Universiteit Leiden. Het KITLV, het oudste Nederlands-Caribische instituut, nodigt u uit deze collectie nader te leren kennen en er zelf mee aan de slag te gaan. Al eeuwen zijn Nederland en het Caribisch gebied met elkaar verbonden. In Traveling Caribbean Heritage wordt onderzocht hoe het gezamenlijke erfgoed in de hedendaagse samenlevingen vorm wordt gegeven, en gebouwd aan een versterking van het werkveld in Nederland, Aruba, Bonaire en Curaçao. De bijeenkomst op 3 mei is onderdeel van een serie die beoogt om de kennis van mensen over het Caribisch gebied en Suriname te koppelen aan de collecties van musea, archieven en bibliotheken. De serie, Wikipedia goes Caribbean, wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met het UNESCO Memory of the World Comité, Wikimedia Nederland, het Rijksmuseum, het Nationaal Archief en het Nationaal Museum voor Wereldculturen.
